Representative Joyce A. Maker

Joyce Maker is the State Representative for House District 31, which includes eight of the 44 towns in Washington County. They include Baileyville, Baring, Calais, Charlotte, Passamaquoddy Pleasant Point, Passamaquoddy Indian Township, Perry, Robbinston, and part of the unorganized territory of North Washington. Rep. Maker resides in Calais with her husband Geoffrey. They have two children.

Rep. Maker serves on the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee and in 2013 served on the specially-formed Committee on Maine's Workforce and Economic Future.

Rep. Maker is a retired College Administrator and Financial Aid Director at Washington County Community College. She served on the Board of Directors for the Finance Authority of Maine (FAME) for two (four year terms), serving as Chairman of the Board for two years. She graduated from Fort Fairfield High School and attended both the University of Maine at Machias and Washington County Community College.

Rep. Maker's background in city government and education has been extensive. She served three terms on the Calais City Council. Her other professional pursuits have included the Maine Municipal Association Executive Committee and the Calais School Board for twelve years. She has also served on the Board of the Maine Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators as President of the Board. She has also served on the Maine State Board Associations Board of Directors

Her community interests include the Calais LNG Liaison Committee, Calais Regional Hospital as a trustee and President of the Calais Rotary Club.

Rep. Maker lists her personal interests as spending time with her grandsons and working with students of all ages, including the youth group at Saint Anne's Episcopal Church.
