Committee Assignments

Represenative L. Gary Knight

Gary Knight is the State Representative for House District 81, which includes two counties and four towns. Leeds, Livermore and Livermore Falls are in Androscoggin County with the town of Wayne being in Kennebec County. Gary lives in Livermore Falls with his wife, Lynn. They have two children, Kathryn and Lt. Colonel Eric Knight and five grandchildren.

Rep. Knight has spent 44 years in the community banking business. He served as President, CEO and Director of Livermore Falls Trust Company. When LFTC merged with Androscoggin Savings Bank of Lewiston, Rep. Knight assumed the leadership.

He also served as an adjunct instructor at the University of Maine at Farmington and taught money and banking courses.

Rep. Knight earned his undergraduate degree in Economics at Colby College and his M.B.A. degree at University of Southern Maine. He is also a graduate of Williams College, School of Banking. Rep. Knight has additional educational at the Northern NE School of Banking and graduate classes at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Rep. Knight will chair the Taxation Committee for the 125th Legislature.

Rep. Knight has served on the Taxation Committee during the 123rd and 124th Legislative sessions. He was also a member of the Engrossed Bills Committee during the 124th. Rep. Knight also served on the Paperless Chamber, ad-hoc committee during the 123rd.

Rep. Knight has served with distinction in many area of his community. He served as the Chairman of MSAD 36 Board of Education for 6 years. He was also President and Director of the Board of the Maine Bankers Association and the Independent Community Bankers of America. He was named Volunteer Banker of the Year by Maine Bankers. Rep. Knight was also President, Director and an EMT for CES Ambulance Service.

When Rep. Knight is not serving his community through service at home and in Augusta, he enjoys skiing, tennis and scrabble.
