Representative Peter B. Johnson
Peter Johnson is the State Representative for House District 27, which includes the towns of Abbot, Beaver Cove, Bowerbank, Brownville, Cambridge, Greenville, Guilford, Monson, Parkman, Sebec, Shirley, Willimantic, and the Plantation of Kingsbury. Rep. Johnson's district also includes the unorganized territories of Blanchard Townships, Northeast Piscataquis (including Barnard and Elliotsville Townships) and Northwest Piscataquis.
He lives in Greenville with his wife of 42 years, Helena. They have two children.
Rep. Johnson has been appointed to sit on the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee for the 125th Legislature. He served on the Labor Committee during the 123rd Legislature and the Education and Cultural Affairs Committee during the 124th.
Rep. Johnson is a Vietnam Veteran of the U.S. Army, having achieved the rank of Colonel within the military intelligence field. Rep. Johnson devoted 30 years to the Army and his country from 1963 to 1993. He has earned the U.S. Army Distinguished Service Medal, awarded by the President of the United States, the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal (3 Oak Leaf Clusters), Joint Service Commendation Medal, and the Army Commendation Medal, along with several service medals. Rep. Johnson served in the Maine Air National Guard prior to pursuing his career in military intelligence.
Rep. Johnson holds an M.B.A. and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Maine. His years of training include the U.S. Army War College, U.S. Army Command, and General Staff College. Additional military training includes the Industrial College of the Armed Forces, Military Intelligence Advanced Course and advanced training in many military language, signal, and electronic warfare courses.
Rep. Johnson has worked as a consultant for Argon Engineering, a program manager for Lockheed-Martin, a Business Development Manager for Raytheon Corporation, and a Program Manager for Engineering Research Associates.
Rep. Johnson is an avid outdoorsman when not serving his state and country. He enjoys hunting, fishing, golf, and ATV/Snowmobile riding.
