Representateive Les T. Fossel
Representative Les Fossel is serving his second term in the Maine House of Representatives representing District 53, which includes Alna, Pittston, Dresden, and Wiscasset. He is currently serving on the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Health and Human Services, as well as on the Government Oversight Committee. He is also Chair of the Legislature's Moderate Caucus.
Rep. Fossel is a graduate of Lake Forest College where he majored in sociology. He is the owner of Restoration Resources, an award winning business which specializes in historic buildings. Rep. Fossel is active in his community, serving on the Lincoln County Budget Committee, the Lincoln County Healthcare Advisory Board, the DaPonte String Quartet (president), the Deck House School (treasurer), the W & Q Railroad (treasurer), the Wiscasset Area Chamber of Commerce (board), the Morris Farm (advisory trustee), the Lincoln County Historical Association (advisory trustee), Maine Preservation (advisory trustee), and the Committee for Alna History (board). Les is also a very popular lecturer, focusing on Maine's historic buildings. He teaches a nationally recognized course on early buildings for real estate agents, assessors, appraisers, and inspectors in Northern New England.
Rep. Fossel and his wife, Merry, live in Alna on a small farm (hay & cattle). Their family includes two sons, a step-son, a step-daughter and four grandchildren.
