Dear Friends and Neighbors of Benton and Winslow;
We are now winding down the committee work for the first session of the 125th, and the focus is now voting on the remaining legislation that will move Maine and all its citizen's forward.
As a member of the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee I recently reviewed the Maine Crime statistics report from the Department of Public Safety. I am concerned that crime in Maine increased by 3.6% during 2010, with property crime the leading category. There has also been an increased awareness of prescription drugs and the relationship they have to crime. "This issue has been the subject of legislation this session and I am confident the 125th Legislature will continue to study this issue for solutions that will lower our crime rates and provide for public safety".
