Rep. Paul Davis Chosen to guide the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee

AUGUSTA- State Rep. Paul Davis has been chosen Chairman of the Legislature's Joint Standing Committee on Inland Fisheries and Wildlife. This committee is crucial to the direction of policy regarding Maine's outdoor heritage of hunting, fishing and recreation.

"It is an honor to be chosen by Speaker Nutting to Chair this committee," said Rep. Davis (R-Sangerville). "As an avid hunter, fisherman and snowmobiler, I know the issues facing Maine's outdoor industry, and I will use my experience in Augusta to help make it successful for the next generation"

Rep. Davis returns to the Legislature to serve Maine with a wealth of experience. He has served four terms as a State Senator, with three of those terms in leadership. He has just completed his first term as State Representative, serving as ranking minority member of the Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee. Paul spent 23 years as a State Trooper. He is a board member on the Sportsman's Alliance of Maine and president of the Maine Snowmobile Association.

The Maine Legislature has 16 joint standing committees, each composed of 13 members - three senators and 10 members of the House. Every committee has jurisdiction over clearly defined parts of state government. The Inland Fisheries and Wildlife Committee's jurisdiction includes the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, wardens, hunting, fishing, trapping, snowmobiles, boat safety registration, personal water craft, and white water rafting.

Rep. Davis represents District 26 which includes Atkinson, Dover-Foxcroft, Medford, Milo, Sangerville and Plantation of Lake View, plus the unorganized territory of Orneville Township.
