The Maine House of Representatives consists of 151 members (89 Democrats, 58 Republicans, 2 Independents, and two Unenrolled members, plus three nonvoting members representing the Penobscot Nation, the Passamaquoddy Tribe and the Houlton Band of Maliseet Indians. Each House member represents a district which had approximately 8,443 people as of the 2000 census.
