November 2009 Extension of Emergency Unemployment Compensation
On November 6, 2009, President Obama signed legislation providing additional weeks of Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) for laid-off workers.
You may be qualified for this extension of Emergency Unemployment Compensation if you are currently unemployed, not eligible to establish a regular unemployment benefit claim and have run out of all previous unemployment extensions.
The program will not pay benefits for any weeks before the week ending November 14, 2009.
How to Apply
- Use the EUC 2008 Application to apply for this extension.
- Mail to:
Bureau of Unemployment Compensation
47-EB/EUC State House Station
Augusta, ME 04333-0047
- or Fax to: (207) 626-6231
The best way to file for benefits under this extension is to file by mail or fax.
Filing by Phone
You can also file a claim by calling the Unemployment Claims Center at 1-800-593-7660 or TTY (Deaf / Hard of Hearing) 1-888-457-8884.
Please do not call the Unemployment Claims Center if you are able to file your claim by mail or fax. The Unemployment Claims Centers are extremely busy with callers at this time. You will experience long wait times on the phone or get a message to call back later in the day.
