What kind of training or experience did you have prior to your Pre-Apprenticeship?
Before my Pre-Apprenticeship, I had been mowing lawns for about 6 years.

What do you do in your occupation?
The day starts early in the morning—during the summer; it is usually 5:00am until about 6:00pm. I do a lot of different types of tasks like loading up the landscaping trucks, laying mulch and gravel, mowing, laying patios, building gardens, planting trees, putting in lawns, and much more. It isn’t unusual for me to work until 9:00pm on my own after I get out of work at Austin’s.

What was the selling point of the Pre-Apprenticeship Program for you?
I like being in the field and my Pre-Apprenticeship allowed me to learn while still getting out there and working.

What would you say to someone who is considering Pre-Apprenticeship?
It helps you find a job and gets you working in the field doing what you are interested in.

Where do you imagine yourself in the future?
After I graduate from high school, I plan to start work immediately. I might take some night classes at the local university. Down the road, I hope to own and operate my own landscaping business.
