AUGUSTA—The Maine Department of Labor is pleased to announce that the Bureau of Employment Services has named Peter Diplock manager of the Augusta CareerCenter.

“CareerCenters serve on the front lines of workforce development, connecting good people with good jobs,” said Commissioner of Labor Jeanne Paquette. “I am pleased that Peter is continuing his service to the department in this leadership role. I encourage businesses in the capitol area to reach out to Peter to learn how the CareerCenter can help them hire workers and take advantage of tax credits and the other services we offer.”

Diplock understands CareerCenter operations and brings a broad range of experience in direct services, service delivery coordination and oversight, program performance, collaboration with businesses and staff development.

Diplock is looking forward to his new position. “I am looking forward to working with the CareerCenter staff as well as the job seekers and businesses in the greater Augusta area,” he said. “CareerCenters become a connector between people who need a bit of advice or support in their job search to the businesses that need a strong workforce. As Maine’s economy picks up, there will be more and more opportunities to make these connections that benefit evenyone.”

He holds a B.A. in Public Administration from the University of Maine at Orono and a M.S. in Vocational Rehabilitation Counseling. A nationally certified rehabilitation counselor, Diplock began his tenure with the Department of Labor in 2002 at the Augusta CareerCenter as a vocational rehabilitation counselor in the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR). He was promoted to the position of training coordinator in 2006 and, three years later, to the division’s casework supervisor position at the Lewiston CareerCenter.

Diplock currently serves on the Central Western Maine Labor Workforce Investment Board and most recently served on the DVR’s Business Relations Committee and as the DVR field contact for the department’s business collaborations with P&G Tambrands, Oxford Casino and L.L. Bean.

He began his new position on February 10. The Augusta CareerCenter is located 21 Enterprise Drive, Suite 2. It is open 8 a.m.to 5 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, and can be reached at (207) 624-5120 or 1-800-760-1573. TTY users should dial Maine Relay 711.
