More than 90 employers hiring
BANGOR—The Bangor CareerCenter is co-sponsoring the Fall Career Fair at the Cross Insurance Center on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The first hour, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., will be dedicated to job seekers who are military veterans. More than 90 employers will be participating in the fair.
“This is Greater Bangor’s largest career fair in memory, indicating positive economic news for the region and the state,” said Governor Paul R. LePage. “We have seen ‘help wanted’ signs going up all over, so this job fair promises to offer good opportunities from great businesses.”
The title partners of this event include the CareerCenter, the Jackson Laboratory, the Bangor Daily News and the Maine National Guard. Sponsors include the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), Eastern Maine Medical Center, Maine Department of Labor, Care and Comfort, Hollywood Casino, Cianbro, Eastern Maine Development Corporation (EMDC), and the Tri-County Workforce Investment Board.

Attendees should bring a resume and, more important, should be prepared to have an “interview-like” conversation with employers to discuss skills, knowledge areas and abilities. Job seekers should also be dressed for an interview.
CareerCenters, part of the Maine Department of Labor, offer a variety of services to help people find employment or upgrade skills. Each center provides several public-access computer workstations with Microsoft Office software, resume writing and cover letter software, Internet access and O’Net software for skills assessment. All CareerCenter services are free of charge.
