Job Fair in Rockland October 22 Bookmark and Share

ROCKLAND ?The Maine Department of Labor?s Rockland CareerCenter and the Maine Department of Health and Human Services will hold a Job Fair at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 22, in the DHHS office at 91 Camden St. The public is invited.

?The Department of Labor and DHHS have been collaborating to make it easier for people who need jobs to get them," said Governor Paul R. LePage. "Businesses and citizens in the Rockland area are benefitting from this partnership.?

Five employers are currently scheduled to attend: Genesis Health Care, which operates Windward Gardens in Camden; Manpower, which has numerous vacancies in the area; UPS, which is recruiting for its Rockland facility; Securitas, which is recruiting security guards in the Rockport area; and Maine Staffing, which has various local employment opportunities.

There is no cost for this event, and all job seekers are welcome. The easily accessible DHHS office is on the street level of the building, and there is plenty of free parking.

Department of Labor staff from the Rockland CareerCenter will be on hand to explain how jobseekers can gain free access to details of hundreds of opportunities on the Maine Job Bank at http://www.mainecareercenter.com . Employers can post jobs on the Job Bank for free.

The event is sponsored by DHHS and the Maine Department of Labor and is a result of the tri-agency collaboration undertaken by the commissioners of the Departments of Labor and Education and DHHS. The collaboration seeks to leverage the strengths of each agency to assist people in finding good jobs through education and training, career counseling and supportive services.
