AUGUSTA? For those who are looking to change careers or get a new job, the Augusta CareerCenter will be offering a variety of programs for jobseekers in August.

?There will be several jobs fairs held across the state this fall,? said Governor Paul R. LePage. ?August is a great time to improve your resume and to prepare for those job fair interviews. CareerCenters can help both individuals who need a job and businesses that need to hire workers.?

Workshops and events are held at the CareerCenter unless otherwise noted. Maine veterans receive priority of service in all CareerCenter programs.

Essentials of College Planning & Financial Aid ? Fridays, August 2 and 16, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Covers the basic steps for successful college enrollment: learn about college and trade schools, entrance requirements, readiness and transitional issues of adult students, admissions procedures and financial aid. Review a typical admissions application, request admissions materials and financial aid information from prospective colleges and complete the financial aid form. To register, call 800-281-3703. Gateway to Employment?Thursday, August 8, 9 to 11:30 a.m. This workshop offers an overview of basic information on resumes, interviews and job search skills as well as CareerCenter and community resources available during a job search?learn how the CareerCenter can help!

Career Decision Making / Career Changers Workshop (Two-Part Session) Wednesdays, August 14 and 21, 9:30 to 11 a.m. This is a two-part workshop: Day one is a review of the factors involved in making career decisions, the different assessment tools used, and available resources. On day two, you will apply the information gained from the assessments to identify the necessary career and training steps needed to achieve career goals. Resume Writing and Interview Skills Workshop?Monday, August 19, 9 a.m. to noon. An in-depth exploration of job search, resumes, applications, & interviews. Learn how to stand out in a positive way by marketing yourself?in person and on paper?in a way that directly matches employer needs. ?Tough? interview questions will be discussed so that you can answer them with confidence. Veterans' Networking Group? Friday, August 30, 10:00 a.m. to noon. Join us and meet fellow veterans. Discuss interesting monthly topics, share ideas and network with others.
