Bill Peabody opened the meeting of the Occupational Safety and Health Data Collection and Injury Prevention Work Group at 9:43 A.M. The July 20th meeting was cancelled.

Approval of June 15, 2005 Minutes. The minutes of June 15, 2005 were discussed. After a correction, Louise Morang made a motion to accept the minute. Leslie Walleigh, seconded. The minutes were unanimously approved.

Draft Report ? Bill Peabody. Members of the group reviewed the draft report. There was considerable discussion regarding the recommendations. Bill will make the recommended changes and will e-mail the revised report to the group.

Subcommittee Organization. Bill stated that only about half of the group had responded to an e-mail asking which group they would like to be a part of. Also, he said, based on the comments received, that the two groups would be co-chaired by a person from the Bureau and one non-Department of Labor member. Bill will follow-up on a member representing Federal OSHA.

Bill announced that Ralph Tucker has been nominated for a judgeship and will likely be resigning, so Bill will be looking for a replacement for union representation.

Another e-mail will be sent out to work group members asking which subcommittee, data collection or injury prevention, they wish to participate in.

Other. Peter Doran suggested Bill Newkirk, Redington-Fairview Hospital, as a possible contact for the work group. Dr. Newkirk made a presentation to MORA and offered his services. He is an occupational medicine specialist and has done research. Peter thinks it would be helpful to have someone like Dr. Newkirk working with the Group.

Bill will send the URL regarding NAGLO (National Association of Government Labor Officials), an organization of labor departments. Members can see what other states are doing.

Next Meeting. The next meeting of the Occupational Safety and Health Data Collection and Injury Prevention Work Group will be held on Wednesday, September 21, 2005, 9:30 to 11:30 A.M., First Floor Training Room, Bureau of Labor Standards, Hallowell.

Adjournment. Mr. Peabody adjourned the meeting at 11:13 A.M.

Respectfully submitted,

Terry M. Hathaway Recording Secretary
