Maine’s Secretary of State announced that Rapid Renewal, Maine’s online service for renewing vehicle registrations, recently registered its 100,000th vehicle registration. Since its inception in December 2000, Rapid Renewal has continued to grow, and today citizens in 78 municipalities across the state have access to online vehicle renewals.

The Rapid Renewal Service is a pioneering service in Maine that brings government to the citizens of the state. The Rapid Renewal Service collects both municipal and state fees in one simple, secure online transaction and is available to citizens 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It's quick, and it's easy.

"Rapid Renewal’s 100,000th user indicates not only the success of the service, but also the desire for Maine’s citizens to interact with their government in the most convenient manner possible,” said Secretary of State Matthew Dunlap. “We encourage municipalities across the state to participate in Rapid renewal as we continue to enhance this innovative service and we will seek to add more services that will bring government to Maine’s citizens and businesses.”

Currently 78 municipalities offer the Rapid Renewal service, which represents more than half of Maine's population. The service is being offered by municipalities from York to Aroostook County, with populations ranging from Caswell's 326 citizens to Portland's 64,249.
