Dog Licensing Service Details

Fees:

The municipality continues to receive its portion of fees. Here is the break-down:

Altered dog: Total cost to dog owner $7.00

  • $3.00-town
  • $3.00-Dept of Agriculture
  • $1.00-InforME

Unaltered dog: Total cost to dog owner $12.00

  • $3.00-town
  • $8.00-Dept of Agriculture
  • $1.00-InforME

The Town does not receive a check monthly, but you will see a credit on your report for the activity that occurred online.

Responsibilities of the Department of Agriculture

  • Produce monthly notifications to the municipality on/about the 1st of every month.
  • The monthly notifications will consist of either:
    • Direct Mail - Credit Memo or Copy of each Receipt of License.
      or
    • Electronic
      • PDF version of the Credit Memo.
      • PDF version of each Receipt of License.
      • ASCII data file containing the received License Application data (optional

Responsibilities of the Municipality

    • Receive monthly notifications from the Department on/about the 1st of every month.
    • Send dog tags  to the dog owner if the license is new, or was a request to replace a lost tag.
    • Send tags to the dog owner if the license is a renewal.
    • Update the "Bad People List". (The "Bad People List" is an online list of names that will not be allowed to use the "Online Dog Licensing Program" as determined by the municipality).
    • Remember to apply the monthly credit to the State Monthly Report.
