Walk-In-Wireless Frequently Asked Questions
The wIw notebook computer doesn't connect to the wireless access
point when I turn it on. What should I do?
After boot-up, you should see a "double-monitor" icon in
the system tray at the very lower right of your screen. Right-click
once on it. If it offers a choice of "View Available Wireless Networks",
select that option. A dialog box listing the name of your access point,
its SSID, should appear. Click once to highlight the name, if it is not
already highlighted. Toward the middle of the dialog box there should
be a check box asking whether you wish to connect to an "unsecure",
i.e. unencrypted, network. Click to put a check in the box, then
click OK. After 10-20 seconds, the bar graph icon, also in the
system tray, should turn green indicating that you are connected. You
should now be able to bring up a web browser and work on the Internet.
If you do not see the "View Available Wireless Networks" prompt,
look for a second "double-monitor" icon and follow the same
procedure with it. Of course, you should also be sure that the wireless
network interface card is firmly inserted.
