Sending Files

Files of records to be loaded into SOLAR may be sent in several ways:

As an email attachment to james.jacksonsanborn@maine.edu
On one or more floppy disks, a 100 MB or 250 MB ZIP disk, or a CD-R or CD-RW disc sent to Maine State Library, POB 2145, Bangor, ME 04402.

Receipt and processing of files will be acknowledged.

Please...

Give files informative names, e.g. mylib2.mrc rather than marcdata.001.
Label disks with library name, date and filename(s)
Do NOT send backup files. They are usually compresses and unuseable for this purpose. Use your local system's export options, e.g. "Create MicroLIF Disk" on many Winnebago systems.

Do NOT send data on tape. There are too many incompatible tape formats for this to be practical.
