Essential Wildlife Habitat MapsMDIFW's Essential Habitat internet Mapping Service has been permanently shut down. It was built over 5 years ago with an out-dated technology that is no longer supported by the State of Maine. It is being replaced by The "Beginning with Habitat" web mapping service, which will soon be available and will contain the Essential Habitat polygons. Until then, there are several options for obtaining maps of the Essential Wildlife Habitats: 1. Contact an MDIFW Regional Biologist (roseate tern and piping plover/least tern Essential Habitats are all coastal): Region A (Gray) 657-2345 Region B (Sidney) 547-5318 Region C (Jonesboro) 434-5927 2. Contact our Bangor Office (941-4455, Donald.katnik@maine.gov) to request a CD with maps of each Essential Habitat site. Note that with the delisting of bald eagles, there no longer is Essential Habitat for Bald Eagles. However, eagle nests are still protected habitat under federal law. For more information, please contact Charlie Todd (Charlie.todd@maine.gov, 941-4468).
