Dear Friend of the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife:

Here’s some important information from the Department we’d like you to know about.

VEHICLE LICENSE PLATES: Outdoor enthusiasts have two choices to support valuable Department programs:

Maine Sportsman License Plate: Is now available at Bureau of Motor Vehicle offices and designated town offices. Proceeds from the sale of the plate go to improving fish hatcheries, developing a stronger landowner relations programs, building public access docks, and conserving endangered species.
For information and to view the design, visit http://www.maine.gov/ifw/wildlife/sportsman_plate.html. To order the plate, go to www.sosonline.org. Thank you for your support!

“Loon” Conservation License Plate: It’s still loved by many! It’s still available. And it continues to support Maine’s Endangered and Nongame Wildlife Fund and state parks. For information and to view the design, visit:

UPCOMING:

2008 Moose Lottery: The annual event starts at 3 p.m. June 12 at Kittery Trading Post, with a number of special events, music, food and door prizes planned by KTP. The reading of names will commence at 6 p.m. This year, 3,015 permits will be issued. The festivities are open to the public. Come join the fun!

Check out Kittery Trading Post’s Moose Lottery events at http://www.kitterytradingpost.com/6_3_2008_email.html

June 10 Election – Bond Question 1: The $29.725 million bond question would include funds for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife: $2 million to upgrade wastewater discharge systems at some of the fish hatcheries, and $300,000 to repair some dams at wildlife habitats.

Any-Deer Permits: Applications should be available by mid-June. Expect notification by e-mail and media reports soon.

FOR YOUR INFORMATION:
