Maine Warden Service Investigator Promoted to Rank of Captain Augusta – Maine Warden Service Investigator Daniel Scott of Bangor has been promoted to the rank of captain effective today, according to Colonel Joel Wilkinson. Scott joined the Maine Warden Service in 1997 in the Bangor area, serving as a K-9 handler until his promotion to investigator in 2006. “Investigator Scott has served the Maine Warden Service with great enthusiasm and professionalism,” said Colonel Joel Wilkinson. “His skills helped to strengthen the level of professionalism in the Investigations Division, and this unit frequently is commended by all prosecutors for its attention to detail and high standards. I’m confident Investigator Scott will continue his tireless work ethic in his rank as Captain.” An interview committee lead under the direction of Maine Warden Service Major Gregory Sanborn reviewed candidates for this position, and gave its recommendation to Colonel Wilkinson, who also conducted an interview. Scott has received 13 letters of commendation, five letters of recognition, exemplary service awards, the Operation Game Thief program’s Outstanding Game Warden award, and the K-9 Search & Rescue Award in 2001, 2005 and 2006. Scott received wildlife investigators covert training from the Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries in 2007, police photography training in 2005, and he attended the National Hunting Incident Investigation Academy at Central Missouri State University in 2000 and the homicide investigation school at the New Jersey State Policy Academy in 1998. Scott was graduated with honors from the University of Maine in Orono with Bachelor of Science degrees in forest engineering and wildlife management. As captain, Scott will supervise the personnel investigation process, the Investigations Division, the Maine Warden Service training program, the whitewater program, all specialty teams, the technology program, and act as the landowner relations liaison for the Maine Warden Service. He will have a staff of nine people in the classifications of special services lieutenant, game warden investigator, whitewater boating specialist, game warden training sergeant, and office associate II. |
