IF&W Partners with Kittery Trading Post for 2008 Moose Lottery

Kittery – The Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is proud to partner with Kittery Trading Post to celebrate the 2008 Moose Lottery today.

The event begins at 3 p.m. at Kittery Trading Post, with the reading of names to commence at 6 p.m.

Kittery Trading Post is one of the largest sellers of Maine hunting and fishing licenses, and uses MOSES, the Department’s online licensing system, as its tool to complete the sales.

This year, KTP is participating in the Department’s annual MOSES promotion, a prize drawing that encourages buyers to go online or to any of the 270 participating MOSES agents statewide to purchase their license and try to win a prize. One of the three grand prizes is a $2,000 gift card to Kittery Trading Post.

In addition, Kittery Trading Post is one of the Department’s oldest merchandisers of IF&W logo apparel, with a portion of sales proceeds being returned to IF&W for license sales promotion.

“Kittery Trading Post is a valued friend to the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife,” said Commissioner Roland “Dan” Martin. “Outdoor sports retailing is important to Maine’s economy, drawing enthusiasts to buy gear and licenses before they head out to the state’s top tourism destination – our treasured outdoors. We thank Kittery Trading Post for hosting this event, and for supporting our inland fish and wildlife management efforts.”

Kevin Adams, chief executive officer of Kittery Trading Post, said he welcomes the opportunity to host the 2008 Moose Lottery.

“The Moose Lottery is a much anticipated event for sportsmen and sportswomen every year,” Adams said. “People attend to see if they’ve secured a permit, but they also come to network with people who love the outdoors as much as they do. We thank the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for choosing us to hold this year’s event, and we look forward to continuing to work with the Department in the future on its ever so critical stewardship role it has in protecting the state’s natural resources.”
