Two Vehicles Go Through Ice In Two Separate Incidents Augusta, Maine - Two vehicles went through the ice in two separate incidents in the Millinocket area on Saturday night. Mr. Gallant and a passenger fell through the ice, into the water. Both were able to get out and walk on the ice, and contacted East Millinocket Fire for assistance. A nearby ice pressure ridge has opened, creating at least 25 feet of open water. Neither Mr. Gallant or his passenger were injured as a result of this incident. An ATV driven by Stephen Davenport of Presque Isle went through the ice at approximately 7:45 Saturday night on South Twin Lake. Mr. Davenport was able to get out of the water. He was not hurt. The Maine Warden Service is urging people to use extreme caution on Maine's waterways as ice is thinning and changing because of above-average temperatures. Also, ice conditions are changing due to pump stations drawing down water on numerous waterways. |
