Car Goes Through Ice on Damariscotta Lake; Driver Not Hurt
Augusta, Maine - A 63-year-old man was not hurt when he drove his car into an ice pressure ridge today and it broke through into 40 feet of water.
Henry Lee, 63, hometown unknown, was driving his 2006 Chevrolet Impala on Damariscotta Lake when he drove into a pressure ridge approximately 30 feet in width at approximately 10:30 a.m. today.
According to Maine Game Warden Joey Lefebvre, Mr. Lee heard the ice breaking under his vehicle, opened its door, and jumped from the vehicle as it was going down in 40 feet of water.
As of Saturday evening, the vehicle remains in the lake.
