Old Town teen located after night in woods

Augusta, Maine - A 15-year-old Old Town boy who became separated from his uncle while hunting Saturday afternoon in Enfield was located this morning (Sunday, November 1) after a night-long search.

Toby Kimball, 15, of Old Town was hunting with his uncle, Greg Savage, 28, of Enfield, at approximately 5:30 p.m. off Dodlin Road in Enfield when Mr. Savage left the teen to circle a field, according to Maine Warden Service Game Warden Bruce Loring. The teen fired at a deer and yelled to his uncle for help, but was unsuccessful in making contact.

According to Warden Loring, Mr. Kimball became worried, tried to leave the area and got lost.

The Maine Warden Service was notified at 6:45 p.m. Saturday, and received assistance from Maine Search and Rescue Dogs. Gunshots were fired into the air as a signal to the teen, who responded by yelling for searchers, but due to strong winds Saturday night, the teen's calls were silenced.

A MESARD team located Mr. Kimball at 4 a.m. today (Sunday). He was cold and wet, and uninjured.

Mr. Savage received a citation for allowing a teen to hunt unaccompanied by an adult.

Warden Sgt. Ron Dunham, Wardens Alan Gillis and Rick Ouellette and volunteer Rich Adams also worked on the search.
