Brief Summary: The Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is proposing to adopt a rule establishing the number of moose hunting permits to be issued for the 2015 season. Permits will be issued for bulls, antlerless and any-moose. Permits are allocated according to Wildlife Management District as follows:

WMD 1 – 275 bulls / 100 antlerless           WMD 13 – 35 bulls

WMD 2 – 200 bulls /100 antlerless            WMD 14 – 35 bulls

WMD 3 – 180 bulls / 100 antlerless           WMD 15 – 25 any-moose

WMD 4 – 400 bulls / 200 antlerless           WMD 16 – 20 any-moose

WMD 5 – 125 bulls WMD 17 – 20 bulls      WMD 18 – 40 bulls

WMD 6 – 125 bulls                                  WMD 19 – 100 bulls/50 antlerless

WMD 7 – 125 bulls                                  WMD 19 – 100 bulls/50 antlerles

WMD 8 – 175 bulls                                  WMD 22 – 0 permits

Brief Summary: The Commissioner of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife is proposing to amend the spring wild turkey hunting season in WMDs 1-6 to allow for a split A/B season. This rule also establishes the dates for the split season to occur as follows: Season A: Week #1: May 4, 2015 – May 9, 2015; Week #3: May18 , 2015 – May 23, 2015; Season B: Week #2: May 11, 2015 – May 16, 2015; Week #4: May 25, 2015 – May 30, 2015; All Permit Holders: Week #5: June 1, 2015 – June 6, 2015. In WMDs 1-6 hunters will be assigned to Season A or Season B based on their year of birth. During “odd” numbered years hunters with “odd” birth years will be authorized to hunt during Season A; hunters with “even” birth years will be authorized to hunt during Season B. During “even” numbered years, hunters with “even” birth years will be authorized to hunt during Season A; hunters with “odd” birth years will be authorized to hunt during Season B. The proposal would also remove the reference to turkey tagging fees as it is currently provided for in statute 12 MRSA, Section 12301-A.
