Governor LePage Proclaims June 26, 2012 as Camp Sunshine Day

AUGUSTA - Governor Paul LePage issued the following proclamation declaring June 26, 2012 as Camp Sunshine Day:
"WHEREAS, since its inception, Camp Sunshine has offered comfort, hope, and support to over 38,000 individuals from 48 states and 22 countries; and
WHEREAS, Camp Sunshine’s mission is to address the impact of life-threatening illness on every member of the family; and
WHEREAS, the Maine National Guard’s 133rd Engineering Battalion has been a tremendous help to Camp Sunshine since 1992; and
WHEREAS, the Maine National Guard has provided their hard work and expertise to complete many wonderful projects at the camp and evolved their original training exercise into a continued mission of caring and support; and
WHEREAS, Camp Sunshine offers children with life-threatening illnesses and their families a place to relax together for a week, and to take a break from the extraordinary demands placed upon them on a daily basis; and
WHEREAS, Camp Sunshine offers families the opportunity to solidify their relationships and meet others facing similar challenges.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAUL R. LEPAGE, Governor of the State of Maine, do hereby proclaim June 26, 2012 as
CAMP SUNSHINE DAY
throughout the State of Maine, and urge all citizens to recognize this observance."
