Governor LePage Proclaims July 20, 2012 as Acadian Little League Tournament Day

AUGUSTA - Governor Paul LePage issued the following proclamation declaring July 20, 2012 as Acadian Little League Tournament Day:
"WHEREAS, in order to prepare for the State Little League Tournament, the Acadian Little League, over the course of two years, has raised over $50,000 from local businesses and families to improve their fields; and
WHEREAS, their cast of volunteers have donated hundreds of hours of work to upgrade their fields and facilities; and
WHEREAS, organizations from all six districts in Maine competed to host the Little League Baseball and Softball Tournaments; and
WHEREAS, the Acadian Little League was selected by the state board and approved by the National Little League to host the state tournament; and
WHEREAS, for the first time the State Little League Baseball and Softball Tournaments will be hosted simultaneously on Mount Desert Island; and
WHEREAS, the best six Little League teams in the State of Maine will be competing for the chance to represent Maine as they advance to the Regional Finals in Bristol, Connecticut.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAUL R. LEPAGE, Governor of the State of Maine, do hereby proclaim July 20, 2012 as
ACADIAN LITTLE LEAGUE TOURNAMENT DAY
throughout the State of Maine, and urge all citizens to recognize this observance."
