Governor LePage Proclaims June 30, 2012 as R.B. Hall Day

AUGUSTA - Governor Paul LePage issued the following proclamation declaring June 30, 2012 as R.B. Hall Day:
"WHEREAS, Robert Browne Hall was born into a musical family living in Bowdoinham, Maine, on June 30, 1858; and
WHEREAS, R.B. Hall accepted a call to rebuild the Bangor Band in the early 1880’s and accomplished this task with such skill that the grateful citizens of Bangor presented him with a gold Boston Three Star Ne-Plus cornet; and
WHEREAS, in addition to his work with the Bangor Band, R.B. Hall also worked with Chandler’s Band, the Waterville Military Band, the Cherryfield Band, the Olympia Band of Augusta and the Colby College Band; and
WHEREAS, upon his death in 1907, R. B. Hall had published more than 62 marches and his funeral procession included the playing of his works “March Funebre”, “Eternal Rest” and “Independentia” by several of the bands with whom he had performed.
NOW, THEREFORE, I, PAUL R. LEPAGE, Governor of the State of Maine, do hereby proclaim June 30, 2012 as
R. B. HALL DAY
throughout the State of Maine, and urge all citizens to recognize this observance."
