Registration of Political Action Committees

Any organization that meets the legal definition of a political action committee (PAC) must register with the Ethics Commission if it accepts contributions or makes expenditures of more than $1,500 in a calendar year to support or defeat state candidates or ballot questions.

The PAC must submit a registration form to the Ethics Commission within seven days of reaching the $1,500 threshold.

PACs that collect or spend more than $1,500 in a calendar year to influence candidates or ballot questions in municipalities with a population of 15,000 or more must register with the clerk of the town or city.
