The EMS Response to Health Care Facilities: A Health Care Facilities Guide to Accessing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Through Maine's 9-1-1 System brochure was developed by the Maine EMS EMD Committee and staff to assist licensed EMD Centers and Emergency Medical Dispatchers in educating health care facilities and physicians offices about what to expect - and what they can expect - when they call 9-1-1.
The brochure includes an overview of 9-1-1 in Maine, information about when to call and when not to call 9-1-1, and questions that may be asked of a health care facility when dialing 9-1-1 for one of their patients. A "Quick Reference Guide", is also contained in the brochure, along with contact information for for the EMD Center (that can be edited by each center) and a space for listing a non-9-1-1 contact number.

At its August 3, 2011 meeting, the Maine Board of Emergency Medical Services approved the use of priority dispatch as an option for Maine licensed EMS services, in accordance with Board-approved standards.
This section includes useful information and tools to assist Maine EMS services that pursuing adoption of Prioritized Dispatch for the service.
The Priority Dispatch Implementation Guide for Maine EMS Services and EMD Centers was created to assist Maine licensed EMS services that choose to implement prioritized medical response plans based upon determinant codes provided by Maine licensed Emergency Medical Dispatch (EMD) Centers.
Determinant Codes Versus Response: Understanding How It Is Done is a publication from the National Academies of Emergency Dispatch (NAED) and consists of excerpts from the NAED's Principles of Emergency Medical Dispatch textbook. The publication provides an understanding of codes as well as points to be considered during development and implementation of a Priority Dispatch system.
The Field Feedback Report form may be used as part of the EMD/EMS feedback loop and provides a standardized instrument for field providers to report dispatch or provider concerns.
