Annual Guidelines
An annual guidelines document is updated and posted yearly. This document describes how to fill out the Academic Plan, Arts Plan, Annual Application and Annual Budget.
Academic Plan
A new school unit or reorganized school unit must complete a Gifted and Talented Academic Plan for approval in December. Once the Academic Plan is approved, the school unit will complete a yearly application and budget.
Arts Plan
A new school unit or reorganized school unit must complete a Gifted and Talented Arts Plan for approval in December. Once the Arts Plan is approved, the school unit will complete a yearly application and budget.
Annual Application
The Gifted and Talented Application must be completed every December and submitted for program approval. The application represents the school districts status of implementation of the gifted and talented program.
Annual Budget
In addition to the annual application, the amounts budgeted for the school administrative unit’s Gifted and Talented Program (4900) must be reported to Maine Education Data Management System (MEDMS) Financial system – these budgeted amounts should be included with the submission of the Annual Budget Reporting for your School Administrative Unit:

The costs for a Gifted and Talented Program which has been approved by the Commissioner are eligible for State subsidy aid.
