There are three Rural Education Achievement Programs that SAUs in Maine may participate.

  1. REAP-Flex – allows flexible use of Title IIA funds for projects permitted under other NCLB Titles as part of the NCLB application process.  Only Small Rural School eligible SAUs can participate.
  2. Small Rural School Achievement Grant (SRS) – Additional funding to local SAUs directly from the U.S. Department of Education for eligible Districts through an electronic E-Grant Application.
  3. Rural Low-Income Schools Grant (RLI)– Additional federal funding distributed by the State for eligible SAUs (50 for FY13) who do not qualify for the Small Rural Schools Grant but meet the poverty criteria.
