The Maine CTE Promising Practices Project is sponsored by the Maine Department of Education and Maine Administrators of Career and Technical Education (MACTE). The purpose of the project is to deepen and showcase how CTE centers throughout Maine are working to increase rigor (academic integration and literacy development) and engagement with program area teaching and learning. Technical assistance, teacher and administrator professional development and case study development were provided by Public Consulting Group's Center for Resource Management (PCG-CRM) in Portsmouth, NH. PCG-CRM's Dr. Julie Meltzer served as lead consultant for the project. She can be reached at jmeltzer@pcgus.com. The following CTE centers are participating in the Maine CTE Promising Practices Project.
The mini-case studies below were developed in 2006 as part of the Promising Practices Project. They showcase research-based promising practices that were implemented by Maine CTE centers during the 2005-2006 school year to increase literacy development and academic integration. Each Promising Practice document summarizes related research and what the practice looked like in one or more Maine CTE centers during the first year of the project. All participating centers received technical assistance, including a site visit, and many also had instructors participate in the Literacy Mentor training offered that year. All case studies were developed by Public Consulting Group's Center for Resource Management (PCG-CRM). The Promising Practices Project is sponsored by the Maine Department of Education and the Maine Administrators of Career and Technical Education (MACTE).
