Administration Guidance
  1. The grant is divided into 2 sections, adult and secondary funds. The Perkins administration portion of 5% can be applied to both sections but must be spent on the administration costs of the section it is determined by. If the admin cost is from the Adult section of the grant than it must be agreed on by the Adult Education planning committee which is comprised of the Perkins grant recipient and the Adult Ed directors in its sending school area.

  2. Describe how the center or region is administered. This section should be completed whether or not the grantee is planning on spending Perkins funds. This section should include how the center or region is governed, by whom and in what capacity. List the goals and activities as needed after the description.

An example follows: (for a center you would need to add the advisory board and the superintendent roles)

The ______is administered by a Director, a Cooperative Board of __ members, a board chairman, and a superintendent’s advisory committee.

The guidelines for management and administration of______. are outlined in a Cooperative Agreement that is reviewed on an annual basis. The cooperative Board meets bi-monthly and operates through the use of an agenda and records and maintains minutes of all meetings.

Each program within the setting of the school maintains and uses a Program Advisory Committee. These committees serve in "Advisory Capacity" to the instructor. Each program participates in a formal program review every two years and maintains an accurate written record of the review for future reverence.

The Cooperative Board maintains subcommittees for facilities, finance, personnel, and curriculum.

The Perkins III funds will be audited by our local auditor at the end of the fiscal year

  1. Describe how Perkins funds will be used. If no Perkins funds are to be used for administration than state so. List the goals and activities and budgets as needed after the description.
One example follows:

It is necessary for the Director to attend local, state, and national conferences, meetings, and workshops to carry out the administrative responsibilities for secondary and adult vocational education. In order to keep abreast of the school-to-work initiatives and educational changes such as Maine Learning Results it is imperative that the director and staff stay in tune with these various pathways and how they impact our students and local programming. Also, as auditing services increase in cost, one percent (1%) of the total grant will be assessed for services rendered.
