CNA Train the Trainer Manual and Forms

The link headings below correspond to the tabs used in the hard copy Manual and contain all the information provided to RNs wishing to teach a CNA course in the State of Maine. They also connect to forms which need to be filed with the Department of Education by the entity offering the CNA course.

NOTE: If your training manual is from 2007 or later, please download all items marked "Update". If your training manual is from 2006 or earlier, please download everything.

  • Course Approval Forms Generally speaking, adult ed programs run from January through December and secondary programs run from September through August.

  • Department of Education, Chapter 245, Standards for Educational Programming for Certified Nursing Assistants (Word - Adobe)
  • Instructor Certification This is a requirement for secondary instructors and is handled through the Certification Team of the Department of Education. This link takes you directly to their web page.

  • PSS Curriculum, first six chapters The Board of Nursing requires that the first six chapters of the PSS curriculum be incorporated into the CNA training program.

    • Skill sheets dated prior to June 2009 will be rejected.
    • For CNA courses starting on or after April 1, 2010, you must use the Excel template and submit skills sheets electronically.
