The University of Maine at Machias is committed to public service. It plays
a significant role in the region as the cultural center and is a forum for
the critical exchange of ideas. Faculty, staff, and students are resources
for communities and agencies through partnerships and applied research projects
serving regional business, industry, human services, and local schools.
The University of Maine at Machias complements and collaborates with each of the other six campuses in the University of Maine System to fulfill the needs of public higher education in the state of Maine.
Through the Tri-campus Consortium for Distance Education, the universities are creating a new model for distance baccalaureate programs within the state. The University community participates in a dynamic planning process that improves academic programs and services, values and supports diversity, and meets the challenges of an ever-changing environment.
