Small Area Health Insurance Estimates (SAHIE) 2007

The Census Bureau has released health insurance estimates by age and income level for the nation's population. Maine and Connecticut are tied for the 5th lowest rate (10.8% uninsured). Massachusetts has the best rate in the nation (7.8% uninsured). Vermont and Rhode Island are 9th and 10th, respectively (11.3% and 11.8% uninsured). New Hampshire shares the 11th rank with DC (11.9% uninsured).

In Maine, the estimated rates of uninsured range from 8.7% in Androscoggin County to 17.8% in Hancock County with an estimated 119,750 people uninsured statewide.
