CID Units

The State Police criminal investigation division (C.I.D.) is responsible for major investigations including homicides, suspicious deaths and child abuse cases. C.I.D. investigates all homicides in Maine, except in Portland and Bangor. The Maine Attorney Generals Office prosecutes all homicides in the state and detectives work closely with those prosecutors.

CID I - Southern Division

CID I has 13 detectives covering York, Cumberland, Oxford, Franklin and Androscoggin counties.

CID II has 10 detectives covering Kennebec, Somerset, Waldo, Knox, Lincoln and Sagadahoc Counties.

CID III- Northern Division

CID III has 12 detectives covering Penobscot, Piscataquis, Hancock, Washington and Aroostook Counties.
