Anne H. Jordan of South Portland was appointed Commissioner of Public Safety in March 2007 by Governor Baldacci. She succeeded Michael P. Cantara, who served as Commissioner from 2003 and was appointed a Maine District Court Judge in early 2007. Commissioner Jordan is a former partner at a Portland law firm and previously served as an Assistant DA and Deputy DA with the York County District Attorney's Office. She is a former member of the Governor's Board of Executive Clemency, Maine Harness Racing Commission and the state's Animal Welfare Advisory Council. Photo of Commissioner Jordan

Susan Bell oversees all DPS recruitment, internal placement, job classification, worker's compensation, labor relations and employee relations activities. She has been with state government in Human Resources for 36 years..

Mary Lucia is responsible for the criminal justice grants administered by Public Safety, including the Edward Byrne Memorial Grant Program, local law enforcement block grants, STOP violence against women grants and project Safe neighborhoods.
