Office Assistant II

An Office Assistant for the State Bureau of Identification performs routine and varied office tasks. He or she keeps the clerical end of SBI running smoothly by providing support to the administration. Tasks performed by an Office Assistant II include:

  • Answering the main telephone line to provide general information or refer a call to the appropriate resource.
  • Preparing incoming and outgoing mail to be distributed or delivered respectively.
  • Printing requested criminal history records and preparing them for mailing.
  • Greeting visitors at the entrance and acting as an escort (SBI is a restricted area) until another SBI staff member takes over.
  • Maintaining Excel spreadsheets and other logs necessary for SBI business needs.
  • Photocopying and faxing materials for meetings, mailings, and/or filing.
  • Assisting Maine State Police Command Staff and the Commissioner and Assistant to the Commissioner of Public Safety.
  • Scheduling appointments and meetings, reserving conference rooms.
