Maine DOE Model Policy
The Maine DOE Model Policy serves as a guiding document for school districts as they develop and implement their own Concussion Management Policy, as required by law.
- An Act to Direct the Commissioner of Education to Adopt a Model Policy Regarding Management of Head Injuries in School Activities and Athletics. This law was passed in May 2012 and signed by Governor Paul R. LePage. The Department recommends that school staff be made aware of the law's requirements and the recommended policy for all schools. The first two sections of this law direct school administrative units to have a concussion policy and protocols for managing concussive head injuries in the school setting.
- Model policy for management of concussive and other head injuries. See Subsection 17.
- Adoption of policy to manage concussive and other head injuries. See Subsection 19.
