Professional Development & Training
The Maine Department of Education is committed to providing professional development to support educators in administering the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs (Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English State-to-State for English Language Learners). The Department encourages the administration of the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs be by an educator familiar to the student, who often may be a special education teacher.
Maine requires test administrators to complete the Alternate ACCESS for ELLs Test Administration Quiz through World-Class Instructional Design and Assessment (WIDA) before administering the test. The certification quiz can be found in the ACCESS for ELLs Training Course & Quizzes Secure Portal. The quiz requires a personal account.
