Figure 11. A large erratic boulder of granite on the small island in the pond. The island is completely underlain by marble, indicating that this boulder was transported by glacial ice from another area underlain with granite. In this case, the boulder may not have been transported far since granite underlies most of the land immediately north of the pond.
