The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission received a Petition to Rezone approximately 1,898 acres to a (D-PD) Planned Development Subdistrict. This would expand Saddleback’s current D-PD subdistrict. An Amended Preliminary Development Plan was also submitted proposing a development plan for Saddleback Mountain over the next ten years. The proposed development would include: two new day lodges, an amenity centers that will include a swimming pool, tennis courts and a snow tubing area, as well as additional ski lifts, trails and snowmaking capacity. A variety of housing and accommodations are also proposed and include: condominiums, timeshares, single family house lots, employee housing, RV park, an inn and a hotel.

The Commission is providing an opportunity for public scrutiny of this proposal during the course of its review. A formal public review and comment period has been established as part of the Commission's review process (see the permit review period under "Project Updates and Upcoming Events", below). The Commission will host one or more hearings to gather oral and written testimony from the public about the proposal.
