The Maine
Whale Plan was developed by the
Department
of Marine Resources in collaboration with the Maine
Commercial Fishing Industry.
The two main components of the Whale Plan, the
Sightings Network and the Disentanglement Network, owe their
success directly to the involvement of lobstermen, gillnetters,
tuna fishermen and others who are interested in taking a
pro-active role in the effort to minimize whale-gear
interactions and entanglements.
For more information on the
Maine
Whale Plan, please contact Erin Summers at the DMR in West
Boothbay, 207-633-9556. |
