Maine Atlantic Sea Scallop Fishery Community Meetings

• April 7    Yarmouth Town Hall Community Room, 6:30-9:30 pm

• April 9    Ellsworth City Hall Auditorium (upstairs), 6-9 pm
• April 13  Eastport Marine Trade Center, 6-9 pm
• April 14  Jonesport High School Gym, 6-9 pm
• April 15  University of Maine at Machias, Science Building, 6-9 pm

The primary purpose of these meetings is to solicit closure ideas from the fishermen who are most familiar with each area. All meetings are open to the public. After these meetings, the Department will work with the Scallop Advisory Council (SAC) to further develop and refine area closures. The SAC will deliver their final recommendation in early June, which will allow the rulemaking process to proceed prior to the opening of the 2009/2010 scallop fishing season.
