Maine’s Annual Quota for Spiny Dogfish Has Been Reached

NOTICE OF NORTHERN STATES DOGFISH QUOTA REACHED
EFFECTIVE 0001 HOURS, OCTOBER 3, 2007 THROUGH APRIL 30, 2008


The Maine Department of Marine Resources would like to inform commercial and recreational fishermen and dealers that the annual quota for spiny dogfish has been reached. It is unlawful to land spiny dogfish in the State of Maine that is in excess of the annual quota established by the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission and the Department of Marine Resources.

From DMR regulation 50.02:

"When the annual Maine quota for spiny dogfish is reached it shall be unlawful to fish for, take, have in possession or land spiny dogfish, (Squalus acanthias), aboard any vessel within Maine waters."
