James Mayotte of Boothbay Harbor was sworn in as the newest member of the Maine Marine Patrol after a December 20 graduation ceremony at the Maine Criminal Justice Academy. Pictured with Officer Mayotte is Maine Department of Marine Resources Commissioner Patrick Keliher (left) and Colonel Joseph Fessenden (right), Chief of the Maine Marine Patrol. Officer Mayotte will begin patrolling in Casco Bay, which is located in Marine Patrol Division I, Section 2, on January 1. Officer Mayotte’s direct supervisor will be Sergeant Robert Beal. “We’re tremendously pleased to be able to increase our patrol resources in that busy area of the Maine coast,” said Colonel Fessenden. “Officer Mayotte is an outstanding addition to the Maine Marine Patrol.”

The Marine Patrol is a Bureau of the Maine Department of Marine Resource that provides law enforcement, search and rescue, public health, maritime security, and public safety services on Maine’s coastal and tidal waters. More information about the Maine Marine Patrol can be found at
