West Bath Shellfish Committee Meeting

July 30, 2008

 

 

Water Quality
         Chairman Warren Swanson reported that in response to a request for proposals from the DMR he is preparing a proposal to conduct accelerated sampling in Dam Cove and south of King’s Point utilizing the analytical services of the Maine Health and Environmental Testing Laboratory.

 

Conservation Openings
       Chairman Swanson led a discussion of the Men’s Club and Long Cove conservation areas that have been opened for two days a week and Sabino and Foster’s Point that have remained closed. The Committee decided to open all of these areas unconditionally for the month of August after which the Committee will revisit their status.

             

Weather Station

            The Chairman announced that an automated weather station provided by the DMR through funding of the Casco Bay Estuary Partnership has been installed at the town office. He added that the data collected by the station can be viewed by going to the Weather Underground website.

             

Abandoned Boat

            The Chairman reported that an abandoned boat has spawned a number of complaints from residents around Bull Rock Landing. Selectmen liaison Dave Bourget responded that he will contact the harbormaster and investigate having the boat removed.

            The next meeting is scheduled for August 27th at 7 pm in the Town Office meeting room.
